First record in 92-year history… ‘Son Heung-min’s colleague’ is aiming
France, who shined as the champion of the last tournament, defeated England and succeeded in advancing to the semifinals of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. It is the third time in 60 years since Italy (1934/938) and Brazil (1958/1962) to win the World Cup twice in a row.
But if France wins, another great record will be achieved. Unlike two consecutive championships, this is an unprecedented record in the 92-year history of the World Cup.
Hugo Lloris (35), the French goalkeeper, is aiming for the captaincy to win two consecutive tournaments for the first time in World Cup history.
Lloris first wore the armband as captain of the French national team in 2010, and was appointed official captain in 2012.
Starting with Euro 토토 2012, he captained the team to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Euro 2016 and the last World Cup in Russia 2018.
Lloris, who finished runners-up at Euro 2016, lifted the trophy for the first time as captain by winning the World Cup in Russia.
In this World Cup, Lloris, who wore the captain’s armband and was the starting goalkeeper, started four of France’s five matches.
He saved Robert Lewandowski’s penalty in the round of 16 against Poland, and led France to the semi-finals by inducing a penalty miss by Tottenham teammate Harry Kane in the quarter-final against England.
Lloris, who plays together with Son Heung-min at Tottenham Hotspur, is also the captain of his team. In August 2015, then manager Mauricio Pochettino appointed Lloris as full captain, replacing Younes Kabul.
Lloris made his 143rd appearance for the national team against England, surpassing Lillian Thuram to become the most capped player (men) in France.
“It was a special evening for me to play my 143rd national team match against Great Britain, where I have been playing (for the club) for 10 years,” Lloris said.
France, who is aiming for a record in 60 years, and Lloris, who is aiming for the first great deal in history, will face Morocco in the semifinals. It will be open on the 15th.
