Kershaw, Urias, and Syndergaard?… Dodgers ‘Excluding Top 10’ humiliation

The Los Angeles Dodgers starting lineup suffered the humiliation of not being able to rank in the top 10 in the major leagues.

On the 29th (Korean time), the Major League homepage MLB.com released the top 10 starting teams for the 2023 season. In the past, the Dodgers would have taken a spot, but the media boldly classified the Dodgers outside the top 10.

MLB.com said, “Even without Walker Buehler, there was a strong argument for putting the Dodgers, led by Julio Urias, on the TOP 10 list. However, Clayton Kershaw’s recent innings are limited, and Noah Syndergaard has to prove he’s reached past levels. Tony Gonsolin and Dustin May need to be healthy.”

Dodgers ace Buehler ended his season after being sidelined with an elbow injury in June of last year and on the operating table in August. Injuries held him back, but he was in the process of developing into the Dodgers’ representative starting pitcher, succeeding Kershaw. In the healthy 2021 season, he appeared in 33 games and made a big success with 16 wins and 4 losses, 207⅔ innings, 212 strikeouts, and an earned run average of 2.47. Buehler started playing catch earlier this month, so he’s still a long way from entering the starting rotation.

Still, the Dodgers have top-notch starting pitchers in the big leagues, including Uriah, Kershaw, and Syndergaard. Urias actually played an active role as an ace by winning 17 wins last year, and is expected to be the first starter this year as well. Kershaw won double-digit wins for two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022. Syndergaard is also a pitcher who can be responsible for 10 wins every year.

However, Kershaw and Syndergaard are evaluated as past their prime. Kershaw suffered from various injuries and only pitched 121⅔ innings in 2021 and 126⅓ innings in 2022. Kershaw, who threw 230 innings in one season, is no longer there. Syndergaard has been mired in a bottomless slump since 2019.

Last year, Gonsolin had to swallow regret when he left with a right forearm sprain while running the pace of the Cy Young Young, recording 24 games, 16 wins and 1 loss, 130⅓ innings, and an average ERA of 2.14. He prepared for this year with great care, but he injured his ankle during the spring camp and left.

Returning from elbow surgery, May has to prove he’s healthy for another season. He pitched in 5 exhibition games (4 starts) and finished the warm-up with a record of 2 wins, 2 losses, 18⅓ innings, and an earned run average of 2.95.

Although question marks are attached to each starting pitcher due to sluggishness or injury, the Dodgers are putting their hopes on pitching prospects such as fifth starter Ryan Peppiot, Michael Grove, and Gavin Stone. If the new and the old are well harmonized,메이저사이트 it may be possible to aim for the top of the National League West division once again.

Meanwhile, the New York Mets with Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, and Senga Godai occupied the first place in the entire major league starting rotation. In second place was the Milwaukee Brewers with ace Corbin Burns. The San Diego Padres, in the same district as the Dodgers, finished in seventh place. San Diego’s starting rotation includes Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, Joe Musgrove, and Michael Waka.
